Abstract
One of my favourite ‘modern’ composers is the great Leonard Bernstein (1918-
1990). He once said: “To achieve great things, two things are needed; a plan, and
not quite enough time.” This is what I will take from the year 2020 – the concept of
now having enough time!
With the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic, ‘time’ became an irrelevant
commodity. For weeks and months parts of the world were in ‘lockdown’ and
suddenly the convention of ‘I do not have enough time’ meant nothing. Not only
did COVID-19 bring about a world of mask-wearing citizens but also provided
one with more than enough time – some quality time to spend with loved ones and
reflect on how precious life is!
