‘n Kerkhistoriese ondersoek na die profesië en openbarings van Johanna M. Brand, Andries A. S. le Fleur en Niklaas P. J. van Rensburg binne die tydsgees van 1900 - 1950
Abstract
This is a comparative literature study about the dreams, visions, prophesies and other super-natural experiences or revelations of Johanna M. Brandt, Andries Abraham Stockenström le Fleur and Niklaas Pieter Johannes van Rensburg. Al three these people lived and was mostly active as prophets or seers during the period 1900 - 1950. My assumption is that they were substantially influenced by the Zeitgeist of the rising Afrikaner nationalism and that their own Sitz im Leben was affected. These three persons lived separated from each other and as far as known never had contact with each other yet there are unique similarities in their actions and “supernatural” pronouncements. Could it be that their supernatural experiences came from source within themselves? With this thesis I want look at the Zeitgeist that could possibly have influenced them. But I also want to try and established theologically sound methodology whereby theologians can effectively and responsibly subject any supernatural revelation too.
